Autumn Rum Punch
‘Tis the season for friends.
And giving.
And, of course, Friendsgiving!
Our Friendsgiving is always filled with the best company, great food and lots of adult beverages. For this month’s cocktail recipe we wanted to bring you a recipe that easily fits into your entertaining plans but doesn’t add to the stress that prepping for a large party can bring. Cue, the Autumn Rum Punch.
It’s quick and easy enough to make right before an event but if you’re really smart, you’ll make it in advance because the longer the ingredients sit together the better it will be! You can combine all ingredients up to two days ahead and store it in your fridge.
To make this beverage you’ll need the following:
- Red Wine: The beauty of this recipe is that you can use any bottle of red wine that you have on hand. There is no need to be picky here!
- Pear and Orange Infused White Rum: This will really bring out your favorite fall flavors in the punch. Infusing the rum can be done up to a week in advance, and you can even use the rum-soaked fruit as a drink garnish or to top off boozy desserts.
- Apple Cider: If you want to channel your inner Martha Stewart you can make your own, but we recommend using your favorite store-bought brand as a shortcut.
- Spiced Honey Simple Syrup: Make this a week ahead so that it is on hand as you throw the punch together!

INGREDIENTS:
Red Wine
Pear and Orange Infused White Rum*
Apple Cider
Spiced Honey Simple Syrup*
In a container large enough to hold everything add equal parts red wine, apple cider and infused rum. Next, add ½ part spiced honey syrup and stir everything together. Taste for sweetness, add more spiced honey syrup if desired.
When ready to serve: Mix in a punch bowl, add in a large block of ice (you can freeze water in a ½ quart plastic container), garnish the punch bowl with fresh herbs and citrus wheels, serve in a punch glass over ice and garnish with pear.
* Pear and Orange Infused White Rum: Remove 2 oz. rum from the bottle and add one pear cut into thin slices and the peel of 1 orange. Let it sit for at least 2 days and up to 7. Once a day, gently shake the bottle.
* Spiced honey simple syrup: In a pot add 2 cups honey and 2 cups water with 1 tsp. kosher salt, ¼ tsp smoked paprika, ¼ tsp star anise, ¼ tsp ground ginger and ¼ tsp cloves. Bring to a boil and cool. Store in the fridge for up to a week.
