Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail
With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, we wanted to make a cocktail that would warm the heart! We are going to teach you how to make a Strawberry Bourbon Cocktail so simple and delicious, you’ll want to enjoy it all month long. This cocktail combines strawberry, chocolate and champagne, all classic Valentines ingredients. This recipe is conveniently made for two so you can share it with your special someone this holiday!
For this recipe, you’ll need:
Fresh Strawberries: Trim the stems off, quarter them and set aside some of the cut strawberries for a garnish at the end. Strawberries have long been considered a romantic food. Dating back to Ancient Rome, where it was considered to be a symbol of Venus, the Goddess of Love, due to its bright color and sweet taste.
Bourbon: We chose to use Maker’s Mark, but any bourbon will compliment the cocktail well. Should you or your guest prefer a different spirit, this cocktail can work with most liquors. Substitute with vodka, gin, rum, sochu, grappa, the list is endless!
Honey Simple Syrup: Try substituting sugar with honey for this key ingredient in this cocktail. Combine equal parts honey and water to make a honey simple syrup. Honey sweetens the drink, while still complimenting the bourbon’s notes of oak, caramel and spice.
Lemon Juice: We used freshly squeezed lemon juice, which gives the drink extra fresh citrus flavor. Other fun benefits of fresh lemon juice are that it contains Vitamin C and can even prevent bad breath.
Sea Salt: Just a pinch of sea salt can make the sweeter flavors more pronounced and helps these flavors bind together and gives you a complete and balanced cocktail.
Chocolate Bitters: No Valentine’s Day is complete without chocolate. Chocolate bitters add warmth and complexity to this sweet, effervescent cocktail.
Sparkling Wine: Champagne is lovely, but any dry sparkling wine will do!
